Part II: HOW IS SNAPCHAT REALLY AFFECTING US

After the previous post on the evolution on snapchat, I felt it was only right to pick up where we ended. While writing the first post, I remember feeling it was a good topic to bring to the surface, yet I didn’t expect that it would get the reaction it did. Many could relate but what I thought was interesting was how other blogger friends, from different cities from around the world got in contact with me to share their point of view. A common dominator was that many felt that a additional social media channel felt too much, since the majority are creating original content for each channel.

Maybe other bloggers can relate, but I feel I started this journey because the joy I felt while doing it. I’ve trespassed into the land of publishing for the sake of publishing but my heart wasn’t into it. Creativity comes from a place of joy (in many times), which is why I chose this path. Surely other blogger can relate? It’s fun, and the more we grow in our roles and the larger audience we touch, the more amazing experiences unfold. That’s why I believe its important to always stick to what brings you true joy.

Creativity comes from a place of joy (in many times), which is why I chose this path. Surely other bloggers can relate? It’s fun, and the more we grow in our roles and the larger audience we touch, the more amazing experiences unfolds. That’s why I believe its important to always stick to what brings you true joy.   It’s sad, as if you don’t publish it… it never happen? Same with Instagram and now Snapchat.

Another thing that my friend Sara and I discussed last week was how Snapchat is taking a similar curve as Facebook and Instagram did, meaning the fact that people started to publish or check in (remember that one?) in order to show that they actually have things happening in their lives. I was bitterly mortified when a friend back in LA (yes this is before I started blogging) a friend said she got anxiety if she didn’t publish on Facebook what she was up to because she wanted people back home to think less. It’s sad, as if you don’t publish it… it never happen? Same with Instagram and now Snapchat. I have days where I don’t put anything up on my story, and there are days where I’m sure you guys get a little overwhelmed by the amount of snaps  (hehe sorry!) but I’ve been torn between creating stories to share for the sake of sharing, so I end up doing a mix of them.

I love snapping my friends, but that’s because I think they are such cool people and its great others get to see that too. There are some creative out there that are doing some really cool storytelling, and if we think about it isn’t Snapchat like a youtube channel just that its only online for a limited period of time? Because there are people out there that adjust their content similar to an editorial calendar. Humor is always a (big) plus, one offavorite snappers is a blogger who has a lot of self-distance and make fun out of whole blogging thing in a smart way. Big like! But sam goes there for me, as for following others on social media channels – if I don’t vibe with the content than I am not gonna watch. #period

For me it comes down to the fact that it needs to be authentic, because when a person is putting on a persona it gets hard to maintain watching. Which is why I don’t. I think also Snapchat has added to the fact that  attention spans is shortening. Can anyone relate? Because if a snap gets too much of a snooze pill, we most likely are to snap for the next. Right?
