Landing Strip

Whether its in the morning, after a long day of work or just hours around noon on a weekend, this place is where I land or lift off from.Whether if I’m working from home, for once in a while enjoying some downtown while watching a TV-show or having friends over it all takes action on this place.

Although I’m busy during the days, having a home that makes one look forward to get back to is so important. Last weekend, when my best friend visited me we discuss a few our differences. Me, the city girl whom cringes by the thought of living on the country side (I know, I don’t know anyone who could see me living in a cabin in the woods). My friend, a former city girl, who’ve lived in various countries around the globe who now cringes by the thought of living in the city.

Yes, there’s a lot of craziness in the city. The upbeat tempo, the stressful mornings in the subway stations, over-packed streets or people who are so determined to pursue their goals they’re ready to bump into a person or two on the road. Yes, it can get exhausting, which it makes it even more essential to cerate a space where one can rest and re-charge batteries.

In terms of interior, I’m a firm believer of having a clean base and add patterns and colors that fits the mood and seasons. This spring, I’m drawn to soft tunes yet filled with character. It nog might be something crazy, but for me it makes all the difference in the world and that’s what a home should be. Your sanctuary, your shelter, ashram and landing strip.

[dropcap letter=”T”]here’s no news that I enjoy discovering new places, same goes with restaurants. There is something pleasurable about going to a certain spot to eat a specific meal, and what more fun to meet up with your friends during the weekend to enjoy hours around a table, eating amazing food while having amazing conversations?

Yes, those place’s transform to a gem because they carry a tradition with them after a few visits. A couple of weeks ago, my friends and I visited Hotel Skeppsholmen here in Stockholm for the first time. Skeppsholmen is a little island located in the heart of the city, but as we got closer to the hotel, the less we felt as we were in the city.

As we walked into the restaurant, we were welcomed by a beautiful interior, lovely ambiance and hospitable staff. My three friends and I were seated at a round table in the middle of restaurant and before we got the chance to sit down, there were already filled glasses of champagne on the table waiting for us. Yes, it was one of those rare experiences and we all agreed that we felt very special and well taken cared of.

And the food, well where should I begin? While a part of me would love to put words on the amazing tastes we experienced that Sunday afternoon, I’d rather have you go and experience it for yourself. Since I don’t eat meat, I found the vegetarian options lovely. However, this is the kind of place you want to save room for the desert. Or should I say desserts? We ordered in every dessert on the menu, and every milkshake and I can personally confirm that heaven was having a feast In my mouth (I guess you’re getting a sense of how much I actually love food).

As for the milkshakes, I have never tasted anything like it. It was such an amazing experience, sitting there and being well taken cared of while eating amazing food and chitchatting with your friends. There’s no doubt that Hotel Skeppsholmen will be my choice of weekend brunch, I’ll let the images speak for themselves.

A big thank you to the lovely staff at Hotel Skeppsholmen for showing us so much love, it made the experience so much more special.

Touchdown Stockholm! One week, two trips to two of Europe’s capitals and although its great to be back home, I’m already looking forward to next destination. Yes, I have a new trip booked but I can’t say more for now (hashtag cliffhanger).

These past weeks have been very busy, meaning busier than my usual busy schedule, juggling three different jobs while working on new projects and change of apartment has left its imprints. Tiered is pretty much an understatement, lets just say that I don’t remember when the last time way that I had a day off was prior to Paris. At some point, I felt like someone had hit me in the face with pan (stekpannna) in the face, a good indicator to slow down.

So during our stay in Paris, I slowed it down and forced myself to not pick up the camera at every block. Honestly, it was hard and I’ve come to realize why.

  • The passion I have for what I do is bigger than myself, that’s what help me with being persistent.
  • Photography is a way for me to communicate what I see and my sense of esthetics.
  • Capturing beauty that enables me to communicate visually leaves me blissful. In other words, its so much more than capturing a moment, its about sharing the story around moment.
  • I’m a sucker for stories. Personal, historical or even fictional stories that gives the audience a deeper understanding.
  • When living my life and thinking about big decisions, I sometimes fast-forward the years and imagine what story I want to be able to tell when I’m older.

[column]However, there have been many times where I have felt misunderstood. Not by family members, they’re my biggest supporters although they like to make fun or occasional man repelling choices of clothes. But that’s just our way jargon, and I love it, especially when my baby brother says “what are those”, or when my sister makes funny pointers that I look like a flight attendant. There have been several occasions where I felt that I need to explain my passion, which is interesting but then again you can’t expect people to understand something they might be lacking.[/column]
[column]Recently, a good friend and I discussed the subject of why people start blogging. For instance, is it because they’re creatively passionate or for the “fame”? Imidetly, the word insta-famous come to my mind -even though one might get some “fame” out publishing pretty pictures and writing a crappy caption to the crappy written blog post, the fame wont last because those people don’t have the passion and wont therefore persist. Makes sense, right? Truth be told, at this point I don’t care about the amount of following or how many likes a picture is[/column]
[column]getting, the engagement is more interesting because it actually tells how it effects the audience.  Secondly, I think its as important to have some joy while producing content as going back to your feed and actually liking what you see. Yes, you have to like what you produce, let your audience rise to your level, especially if you’re creativity isn’t in the mainstream lane. And at the end of the day, I’m more drawn to people who have something to say instead the wanna-be-cool-kids that just drains your energy. Speaking of energy, giving myself some time off in Paris was nice but[/column]
[column] the interesting thing is that although the schedule in London was filled with activities I got on the plane with new found energy and inspiration. The thought of having my best friend visiting me for the weekend is also a boost of joy, I look forward sitting on the coach with her, maybe sip on a cup of tea while getting lost in various conversation about everything and nothing. And maybe that’s how I see it, either you give what you’re doing your everything – or nothing.[/column]

Vivid Phases

I go through vivid phases, vivid yet different from each other, high contrasts to the point where one can see where one phase starts and where the other one ends. With the embarking of spring, a tiered phase is coming to a full circle. The spring sun has done me well, especially here in Paris where I currently am for a little get-away.

Although the notion of two upcoming busy days in Stockholm, followed by a press-trip to London for two days followed by packing up my apartments while having my best friend visiting I made the decision to not give in to anything other than being where I actually am. Embrace this get-away phase, tomorrow will come regardless.

My life has always been a collection of vivid phases, some busier while others have been a long snooze-party (mainly because the need for rest) and interestingly enough, phases occur in many parts of life. From being into a certain type of music for a while, or re-wearing a type of jeans for a time period or finding myself drawn to a certain type of designers. The current phase would be best described:

  • Drawn to Swedish and Danish designers
  • Wearing mostly straight jeans, such as these Totême jeans above.
  • Strolling around in metallic shoes with a heel my feet thanks me for.
  • The wider and bigger sleeve, the better.
  • Attempting to keep my caffeine consumption by two cups a day.
  • Listening to cultivating podcasts and discussing interesting topics
  • Packing my life in a Little Liffner (Swedish brand) tote everyday, perfect for most occasions.
  • Planning the interior decor of my next place
  • Juggling projects and my new role as Creative Content Strategist at Büro Hashtag.

This hopefully gives you a little idea of what this current phase looks like, its just a fraction of whats not being described. Next week, I will go more into detail but make sure to follow along meanwhile on Instagram and Snapchat. Now, we’re off to Marais to have a hipster breakfast. À tout à l’heure!

If there was a trend to take note of this season it’s to incorporate sporty items into your personal style, in fact, the majority of the photos from previous Paris Fashion Week that made an impact on me were on those people who wore a fashionable yet urban look. You guys remember what street-style photographers used to photograph back in the days before street-style became the parade it is today.

Anyways, I had the pleasure to create my own Fashion X Sporty look with my friends Zalando, a go-to online destination where one can find basically everything, which this looks states clear. Right? Instead of going full on sporty, I wanted to illustrate how one can incorporate a sportier piece together with a fashionable coat, such as this beautiful piece from Baum und Pferdgarten. Contrasts, contrasts, contrasts! Imagine this look with some other top, it would be a complete different look.

For me, this is a perfect weekend look while strolling around town with my friends during the weekend. Comftorble booties from Topshop, which brings me to remind you that since the Topshop store in Stockholm closed down Zalando has been my go-to choice of getting my hands on Topshop goodies. All these pieces can be found at Zalando.se, click on the images below to get more details and don’t forget to leave a comments on what your ideals sporty fashionable would look like.
