When the sun comes out, my soul comes to life. Yesterday was such an beautiful day, you could sense that many were happier as we went from one press office to another. It’s press week here in Stockholm, which means we get to see what the fall and winter brings. Just the fact that hours of daylight is increasing makes me so happy. Stockholm is such a beautiful city in the summer and I cant wait for it to start.

Speaking of happiness, something that I have been thinking about is about is ‘stand in your own light’. Thoughts go something like this: when we turn inwards and truly dedicate ourselves to self-love and accepting our selfs, we stop resisting who we truly are. Then we can stand in our own light. Doing so is a journey and one I like to explore it. What do you guys think?

Since sharing parts of my morning routine on Insta-stories, I’ve come to understand that there are many who’s interested in meditation and its benefits. Yes, meditations brings both physical and mental benefits. It decreases anxiety, blood pressure, ny tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems just to mention a few perks. There is no right or wrong way to do this. You will only get better with time! Start with 5 minutes. I make sure and schedule my mediation like a meeting, because 1-2 times of mediation a day is VITAL to my mental health.

Time needed: 10 Min. to Start. Gradually increase in 5 Min. increments until you can Meditate for 20-30 Min/Day

Things needed: Desire to Mediate and a smart phone.

*Turn your smart phone on AIRPLANE MODE and set a timer. It’s important not to be distracted in your meditation, because when you are shocked out of a relaxed state – it can cause headaches. Or if you’re meditating to a guided meditation, turn your smart phone on Do Not Disturb mode (not sure if all phones have this function) so you can proceed listening to the meditation without getting disturbed ny any notification or such.

1. Comfortable location.

A quiet, cozy and alone spot where you will be undisturbed. Sit however feels most relaxing to you: in bed, in a chair, or maybe on the floor. Just pick what comes more natural just as long as your back is supported. I’d advise you to not lay down, because you may fall asleep.

2. Soothing manta.

By silently repeating a mantra (a word or a phrase) to yourself during meditation is a good way to put your attention on the other than your thoughts. If you don’t have a mantra in particular in mind, there’s several of guided meditations on Youtube.

When we think positive thoughts, we release chemicals into our body and when we think negative thoughts we release negative chemicals in our body.

3. Close your eyes. Breath.

Start by take a few cleansing breaths. Breath in through the nose and breath out through the mouth. Proceed by breathing at a normal relaxed pace through your nose with your lips gently closed.

4. Silently saying your mantra in your head.

Silently repeat the mantra in a sift and relaxed manner. I like to focus on my heart space while repeating the mantra, as I feel it helps me to not get distracted by the thoughts that come and go.

5. Don’t try to empty your thoughts or brain.

Naturally, thoughts will come and go. Allow them to come and release them, acknowledge them for what they are. Thoughts. Try to be a observer of the thoughts instead of identifying yourself with them – because you are not that voice in that head.

6. Stop The Mantra.

After about 10 minutes, try to stop repeating the mantra and continue siting with your eyes closed.

Think about mediation as washing your brain. You shower at least once a day (hopefully), so why not wash your brain. We are constantly thinking, judging, evaluating. Even in sleep. Our brain needs time to chill. Literally.

Hope this inspires you!

It’s been a week filled with work and events, although I’m glad and grateful for everything work-related I’ve been looking forward to just be able to relax and hopefully catch some quality time with my family. Secondly, I’m going to expo. My kinda expo! It’s my first time and you can find anything from crystals, various sorts of therapy methods, cards and much much more. It’s called Harmoni so if you’re into alternative ways, check it out if you live in Stockholm or close by. I’ve heard it’s amazing and a great experience.

The past weeks, I’ve been receiving questions about my amethyst and what it does. So here’s a little more information: Amethyst is a stone of spiritual protection and purification, cleansing one’s energy field of negative influences and attachments, and creating a resonant shield of spiritual Light around the body. It acts as a barrier against lower energies, psychic attack, geopathic stress and unhealthy environments. It is a valuable protection for those doing psychic or intuitive work, and enhances personal environments with a healing and protective circle of Light.

Amethyst is one of the best crystals for meditation. The amethyst color stimulates the highest vibration of the Third Eye, and placing an Amethyst stone directly over this area ushers in a serene meditative state that stills conscious thought and guides the mind toward deeper understanding. Amethyst energy encourages the mind to be humble and surrender to that which is greater than itself in order to gain some understanding of how the powers of the universe can direct and guide one’s life.

Take care

A few days ago, I had the pleasure to attend Josefin Bengtsson yoga and meditation class. Josefin recently dropped her book Yoga och meditation, a book with traditional and new yoga poses. Recipes and lots of inspiration!

We started with meditation with blindfold, shaking our bodies to the sound of Josefins voice and music. The technique help reduce stress in the body.

After the meditation, we started the yoga class. Since I haven’t been in the gym nor running the past months, I definitely could feel the difference of not moving. Some tend to get discouraged when they work out the first time in a long time, not me – I was excited to start since my body  responded so goo d to the workout.

We also meditated with acpartner, also something new for me. After the yoga, I could feel that the tensions in my back and neck wasn’t hurting as much.

Afterwards, I spend almost three hours in this thing. I am a water sign after all, haha. It was so beautiful to watch the sun set over the city as Maya and I were talking the minutes away. Before leaving, we jumped in the sauna and I have been asking myself one question ever since. Why don’t we take better care of our bodies?

Personally, I think it comes down to balance but also why we do it. For instance, when I wake up in the mornings I just want to fall asleep. I’m not a morning person (anymore) but after have been meditating every day for a couple of weeks, I could see the difference. Especially one day when I didn’t meditate, oh jeez. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t a good day. Same goes with physical workout, when you get to the point where you’ve made it to a routine – you feel the difference from not doing it.

For me, its about finding a way that fits me. But also, the right reason of doing it. A reason that resonates with me and is long lasting. Working out for the sake of looking a certain way has never worked for me, it may have been a big reason why I started in the beginning but throughout become a secondary plus. One thing is for sure, we all need to take better care of our selves. Body and mind. Don’t you think?

Thank you Josefin for having me and congratulations to the book!
