WHAT FASHION BLOGGERS DON’T TELL YOU

sara-che-how-to-take-creativity-to-the-next-level-new-york-givenchy-antigona-pervert-tote-celine-eyewear-sunglasses-thpshop-silver-cuffs

I’m having one of those days today. You know one of those days where I don’t want to see anyone, I’m trying hard to keep my eyes open and mind focused. While my head is spinning of things to do, I can’t stop thinking how much is rather just would love to come home to apartment and soak in the silence and comfort of being in my own space and forget about this social media world.

As a blogger, or influencer as we’re being called today – we have the ability to inspire and influence others. My goal has never been to influence my readers on what to buy, the only contract I signed with myself was to be authentic as a person. However, as a blogger I always stumble upon situations that makes me question others and their purpose.

One of most common misconception is its not a real job, I don’t have a hard time with people not understanding that. Or the business in general, what gets to me is the people who’s in this business but choose to act as they don’t comprehend. Let me break it down for you, there’s a few things that a blogger won’t tell you but most likely have experienced more or less.

1. Numbers
With social media being bloggers biggest tool, numbers play a big deal in the real world as well. Not only will companies evaluate your following, which is only natural but other fellow bloggers will too. There’s been many occasions were a blogger friends overheard another saying that they won’t hang out with s person if they have less than a certain amount of followers on Instagram.
Disgusting? Yeah, I know. But it doesn’t stop there – it goes as far as bullying. The term ‘you can’t sit with us’ is a fact for some people.

2. Jealousy
This subject is one of my all time pet peeve, mainly because I’m allergic to it. One would think that since we’re all same business, people would have understanding that a blog does not happen over a night. And if you want to create content that has value, you need to put in some brain activity. However, there’s plenty of jealousy. Why can’t people be happy for each other and learn from each other’s accomplishments? Why not getting inspired by these accomplishment and create your own success?

3. It’s small world
Although we live a big world, it’s easy to forget how small this world is. People tend to think they can act however they like. But it’s a small business and word gets around and regardless how many followers you have, people will remember you by how you treated them. That goes to you too fellow bloggers!

4. Competition
Honestly girls (and boys), it’s not s competition. The sooner you realize it, the better. This is how I see it, it’s not a competition because I can never be another person and the sooner one realizes that by being who they are – they will start channeling what is true to them in terms of esthetic in photography or voice in writing or whatever your are doing. Focus instead on your journey and sharpening your qualities.

So why do I do this? Get disappointed of how people choose to treat each other based on such meaningless things that are meaningless to our existence? I’ve come to realize that it’s what Elizabeth Gilbert defines as ‘shit sandwich’. Meaning, every career comes with ‘shit sandwiches’ (i.e, rejections and mean comments from people or people on social media), if you’re willing to eat the sandwich that comes with your dreams, then you probably haven’t picked the right dream because you will happily eat that shit sandwich if you love the creative work.

sara-che-how-to-take-creativity-to-the-next-level-new-york-givenchy-antigona-pervert-tote-celine-eyewear-sunglasses-thpshop-silver-cuffs

Therefore the answer is simple, I love my creative platform and the possibilities it has given me as well as the persons I’ve met through it. I have encountered some amazing friends via my blog and the business of fashion, ladies whom I take pride in calling a friend, ladies whom continue to inspire me in their work and as humans. They’re the real diamonds, not because how many followers they have but because who they are because thats what matters at the end of the day.

So how do you go from being low on energy, longing to go home and hide under the pillow to eating your shit sandwich with a big smirk on your face? You use that energy and channel it to something sustainable. That makes you happy you had it. Remember one thing, you decide the outcome and you only. The French have a saying that goes ”On est jamais mieux servis que par soi même” which means that nobody serves us better than ourselves – and that was exactly my mantra.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona will most defiantly blow you away with its beauty and charm. Although this wasn’t my first time visiting, it felt like I experienced it for the first time. Often, I found myself smiling while walking around, eager and excited what I would find around the next corner. Maybe that’s why I decided to revisit a few places I visited the last time, maybe it was because I was exploring the city on my own.

Park Guell

One of Gaudi’s major works in Barcelona and a must when visiting. The park used to be public, however they do charge a fee now to enter the main area. I strongly recommend to walk around the park and not only focusing on the momental zone. The park, located on Caramel Hill offers a beautiful view over the city and the ocean.

Las Ramblas

One of Barcelona’s iconic streets, filled with life, movement and energy spinning on a high level. Not necessarily the swarming energy I was looking for, I enjoy Barcelona’s laid-back energy. Somehow it remind me of Los Angeles, but if you visit Barcelona – make sure to experience this 1,2 kilometre long street.

Passage de Garcia

A great area in which to spend time, not neccarily to shop or have a bit of food but to just inhale the beauty of the architecture and the cities beautiful architecture. Gaudi’s buildings Casa Bastilió and Casa Miliá, known as La Pedrera can be found there. This avenue is filled with things to experience, I accidentally found a park behind  a museum where people giving bread to the birds. To my surprise there weren’t only doves but also small green parrots. A are to go and just feel the atmosphere and ambiance.

Mercat La Boqueria

Marketplace with a entrance on Las Ramblas that offers a wide selection of food, vegetables, candy and spices. Although you don’t have any intention of buying any food, La Boqueria is a looking at all the colourful and well presented stalls. As for myself, I picked up a juice and a little coconut to snack on before heading back to my hotel. must-see on our 5-day trip to Barcelona. The market was very easy to find since you can’t really miss it when walking down La Rambla. The entrance of the market was obviously full of tourists, but ”deeper” inside the place it wasn’t so crowded.

National Museum

I strongly recommend to visit this majestic place during daytime as well as night, during the weekend they lit up the fountain. Its not hard to appreciate this beautiful architecture with its majestic and grand posture, as it was guarding the city since its situated on Montjuïc hill. Once you make it up the stairs, the view from the museum allows you to see the city in another beautiful angle.

Assuredly, Barcelona has much more to offer and these tips are just the tip of the iceberg a few of those must-see’s when visiting Barcelona. Next time, I won’t wait so many years to revisit. There’s so much more to this city and what blew my away was the selection of restaurants, which I will share with you all shortly.

Back to The Basics

After been traveling a lot these past few weeks, it feels nice to get back to old routines. Although I’m off to Paris next week, and a unknown destination the following weekend, being back home allows me to recharge and return to my natural habitat – i.e. its all about the basics.

And whats more basic than a pinstriped shirt, ripped jeans and Mango loafers that I picked up during my Barcelona trip. Even though owning insane amount of loafers, these stand out from the rest. They have a masculine vibe going on and the sandal design makes them more casual if they would be classic loafer.

Since the temperature is dropping faster than expected, its better to make the most us of them before winter arrives. And after last weeks madness in London, my feet are very grateful after destroying them by running from one venue to another in heels.

Mixing and Gant matching

Fall has to be one of my favorite seasons when it comes to fashion, although I love wearing monochrome I find myself going against my natural habits by having non-black days. Also, I find myself drawn to combining colors and mixing materials.

During the second day of London Fashion Week, I wore this mens denim shirt from Gant with a cognac a-lines leather skirt. The combination of the colors and mixture of denim and leather is perfect effortless look for fall. Speaking of mixing, can you tell I’m wearing a mens shirt? Barley, right? Mixing styles is one of the things I enjoy the most when putting together a look.  doesn’t the wooded heel and denim shoe look amazing? Best of all, they’re extremely comfortable as well.

Regent Street

sara-che-pin-location

Regent Street, London

Being in London for Fashion Week is something I’ve been longing to experience for a long time. Although the expectations were high,  LFW managed outdo them. So what were my expectations? Well, a lot of urban vibes in terms of fashion and street-style, bright colours and plenty of prints. But the shows managed to surprise me, I just love how the fashion reflects the cities spirit.

Diversity has always been something I truly love, unfortunately its a bit rare in Sweden (sorry my Scandi readers but I think you understand where I’m coming from) which makes it so refreshing seeing people being unfiltered and open, they don’t do ‘lagom’, a word in Swedish that means not too much nor too little – the perfect amount.

It would probably make more to show you what I wore the first day of LFW, but my excitement for these photos and the look were too high to wait. Yesterday, after a lovely breakfast with a couple friend, my friend Payzee and I walked down to Regent Street to shoot. We were looking a iconic London environment, what’s more perfect than Regent Street with old red London busses passing by?

As for my look, a classic monochrome look toppen with a touch of roar from the Swedish designer Anna-Karin Karlsson. Surely, you seen her amazing design of people such as Lady Gaga, Bea Åkerlund and Jelena Karleuša. Anna-Karin sunnies oozes confidence, personality and takes whatever you’re wearing to a new level of high. Although my style is minimalistic I truly enjoy adding details that reflect my personality. After all, thats what person style is about. Don’t you think? If you haven’t seen her latest collection, make sure to check it out here.
